Our Journey So Far
In case you’re wondering how or why this became a thing, it was whilst backpacking in Chile on a Land Rover safari.
One of us said, “We should get one of those Land Rover things.”
The other replied, “Yes—and drive it around the world.”
And with that, our fate was sealed, and this remarkable journey began.
We drove Lizzybus through six continents: Europe, Africa, Asia, Australasia, South America, and North America—covering 66 countries
Six years later on returning to England, we ached for our nomadic life—the sunrises, sunsets, the unknown.
2016/7 We rebuilt Lizzybus and set off again—heading east, following the Old Silk Road, driving through another 20 countries.
Plagued by mechanical and physical breakdowns, COVID, and the war in Ukraine, we could not continue.
We limped back to Spain……..
Several years passed………..
David had back surgery in the UK. We bought an old caravan and built a life here in Spain.
I wrote and published three books about our odyssey while rescuing two horses and a donkey. David had a mid-life crisis and bought a Caterham.
On realizing we had driven Lizzybus through 86 countries, we’ve decided to add another 14, making it a nice round:
one hundred countries —a fitting end.
